Ardashir Mirza

Ardashir Mirza Rukn al-Dawla (1807-1866) was a prince of Persia's Qajar dynasty, and the governor of the Arabistan, Bakhtiaristan and Luristan provinces of Persia. He was the ninth child of Prince Abbas Mirza Qajar governor of Azerbaijan. He carried some local government related tasks on behalf of his father.
On the death of king Fath Ali Shah Qajar in 1834 followed by the revolt of several princes, was in charge of dealing with the rebels Mirza Ismail (governor Shahrud and Bistam) and a son of Fath Ali Shah; on his return he was appointed governor of Gurgan.
In 1836, Muhammad Shah Qajar made an expedition against the Turkomans and to recover Gurgan of Herat. He sent Ardashir Mirza to Tehran to act as regent in his absence. When the Shah return to Tehran, Ardashir was appointed governor of Mazandaran where he remained seven years during which Hazrat-e Isan, who had the support of Turkmen, revolted and proclaimed himself an Imam. Ardashir Mirza was commissioned to master this revolt with Muhammad Hasan Khan al-Iravani, and they succeeded.
In 1846 he was appointed governor of Luristan and dominated Khuzestan where some local unrest had occurred. He then went to Luristan where rebels Piranvand, Sagvand and other tribal leaders were captured and sent to Tehran. He finally went to Shushtar and Dezful pacifying the region. He was again appointed governor of Mazandaran (circa 1850) and later in Tehran (1853) when he was absent Nasir al-Din, and remained in the position until 1856.
In the latter year he was given the title of Rukn al-Dawla and was appointed governor of Azerbaijan, and in 1859 he was appointed governor of Gilan where he remained for two years.
He died in 1866 due to his excessive Alchoholism.
